Google page speed insights provide details on the performance of page speed on both mobile and desktop devices and offers recommendations on how that page can be improved.

Additionally, page speed insights offer details for the lab as well as filed data about a page. Lab data is used for correcting performance issues and filed data is used for capturing true, real-world user experience.

At the peak of the report, page speed insights (PSI) provide a score that describes the page’s performance. The score is determined by running Lighthouse to gather and examine lab data about the page. 90 or above is considered as fast score, 50-90 is considered moderate, and less than 50 is considered to be slow.

Beginning of this year, Google tested a new speed report within Google search console. Now Google is rolling out publically highly anticipated page speed reports in search console. This report officially previewed by Google in the month of May, but it was uncovered back in February.

What Google report says about speed, read out below

Google’s new page speed report gets data from the Chrome User Experience Report and instinctively accommodates URLs into the categories of “Fast”, Moderate”, and “Slow”. The report also identifies the issues causing slowdowns and further categorizes pages by grouping URLs with similar issues together.

Furthermore, the place of speed report is under the “Enhancements” section of the Google search console which helps the webmaster quickly find the speed performance issues.

What does Google recommend this report?

As per Google’s recommendations, “you can use this report both for monitoring your performance over time and for tracking fixes you made to your website if you fix an issue you can use this report to track whether users experienced a performance improvement when browsing the fixed version of your website”.

Further, Google says,” this report is currently ‘experimental’ in the sense that it will be revised and improved upon over time. However, unlike typical Google experiments, this report will be rolling out to everyone”.
